This plan for alternative communication should specify the methods to be used, such as a phone tree, satellite phones, or a designated external messaging service. It should also define how these channels are activated and how contact information is kept up to date and accessible offline.
The organisation should compile, print and regularly update physical copies of essential staff contact lists and call trees and ensure they are easily accessible in multiple departments. It should adopt a recurring schedule for physically inspecting equipment, checking batteries and updating the ECP document and contact lists to reflect personnel or procedural changes.
